Callie Bender

Guitar

Hello, my name is Callie!

Born and raised in San Antonio, my passion for music has been lifelong. At around eight-years-old, I expressed interest in learning the piano, and quickly began taking lessons at a local music store. A few years later, I joined concert band in middle school and played flute up until my freshman year. Throughout the rest of high school, I continued to practice music on my own, and picked up the guitar in full during my senior year.

From Fall 2018 to Fall 2022, I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. In addition to my studies, I also attended weekly guitar lessons, and persisted in learning and practicing as much as I could.

After obtaining my Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification, I landed my current full-time position as a Transportation EIT at Pape-Dawson Engineers. However, my love for music has also brought me to teaching part-time at SOWA!

I am grateful to the Lord for where He has led me. The opportunity to help guide others in their own path of musicianship alongside making a positive impact in engineering is a blessing I do not take for granted!

American Sign Language

Hi! I’m Amber Petrosky; I am a born and raised San Antonian! I attended Judson High School, where I first took and fell in love with American Sign Language (ASL). After graduating I attended San Antonio College for the Interpreter Training program & the Deaf Support Specialist Program. I then worked for NEISD for 4 years as a Deaf Support Specialist where I worked hands on with the students in classes and extra curricular activities. God then opened the amazing opportunity for me to be a stay at home foster momma. In 2017 we fostered to adopt our oldest 2 kids; in 2020 we said yes to adoption again and adopted our twins. . My family attends Camelot Christian Center, where my husband and I met and serve in several areas. I believe using ASL to worship allows those of us who are musically challenged to express ourselves in a beautiful way to our Savior. I’m so excited to teach this beautiful language to y’all!
